It's just a bunch of the older guys that come through and skate the old spot after and just
skate the curb and have some fun, skate some flat ground.
Johnny Atleth.
It's a joyous event that's called skateboarding.
There you go.
From the mouth of the apes, a joyous event for skateboarding.
New York City and San Diego.
That's the west coast of San Diego, like Bercastito, Al Yasha, the Donger, South Barbier, all those
guys out there, they fucking, they started it, I got high footed.
It's about hanging out with friends and slapping up some curves, but for some reason I didn't
get to memo.
I'm riding low trucks, tight trucks, small wheels, after like I'm still 20 years old.
Just trying to make some magic happen.
Slappy Sundays about hanging with friends, having a good time, especially hanging with
friends I haven't seen in two or three years, brings out the best of everybody.
I think it's the camaraderie, definitely, you feel engaged with everything, you know,
it's like you become part of the fabric when you're out in the streets.
It's about skating with friends, having a good time, curves, grinding, you know, you
get yet older and it's like things happen to you in life and kind of have the weight
of your life on you, you know, you go through just whatever experiences you have and disappointments
and it becomes even more important, just like do things that are enjoyable and that actually
make you happy.
So that's what it's all about to me, it's like, you know, it's like, it keeps me sane.
I don't know what I would do without skateboarding.
Back in the day, like in the 90s, there used to be a spot where everybody came to hang
out and skate and just like drink beer and just do a thing, I guess.
Everyone has a good time, no pressure, no dog session, everyone cheering each other on,
even if you don't learn to slap me, just having a lot of fun on skateboarding.
I've been skating since 1986, 85, 86.
Slappy Sunday is a sponsor by Gerritol, so.
I don't know the cast, you know, that a lot of the younger dudes, if they don't know them,
then they should.
That's a lot of the cast that really helped pave the way through the city, so it's like,
there's a lot, you should have a lot of respect coming here, it's not like some skate park
on is being reckless, you know, it's real chill vibe.
