In 2010, I had been working for a tri-partite call group.
This is a combination of United Nations Organization, ASEAN, as well as Myanmar Government 3 into
1.
This is a model created for markets only in Myanmar.
Its position gave me a lot of opportunities to directly deal with military personnel to
do their job in helping the people in ARD.
Very big organizations like UNICEF, UNGP, you know, cannot readily respond to the water
needs.
I feel sorry and I consider that I myself individually, I should do something to this.
I consult my friend, who was also working for Loke NGO at that time, then he agreed
with me and we started responding to this call fast.
My friend had an idea to run the NGO at that time too, you know, this is a very origin
of Shemasi.
All together, 38 people, we consulted, we had a meeting at 7 p.m.
night time and it finished 1.30 a.m. in the morning time.
Still, we are very, very, you know, motivated and we had different ideas and we got the
assistance from the UNDP, ASEAN, Forest ASEAN.
We can do a lot of small projects for environmental protections and conservation planting.
Up to two years, I can support Shemasi to be able to do the small projects, you know.
Those are really important for us to get the registration so that we can officially stand
and work for the people of Myanmar.
Later on, on June 12, we are lucky to jointly implement the program together with HHRD,
Helping Hand Relief and Development Organization.
Find that way, we finance our office and also we try to get the membership please.
We also support our own, you know, same finance by making income generation by this, you know,
much from Project 2.
The activity that we are doing currently, it's only two, one is education program.
We facilitated students for learning, getting the English language skills and also we provided
them with the life skills.
For example, life skills means decision making, you know, knowledge about, you know, youth
life and also HME aids, you know, those knowledge aids.
Second is governance program.
We do agricultural governance, meaning assisting the farmers in establishing the local organization,
CBOs, CSO and also democratic practices, how to take the agreements of the majority people
to do what the common issues.
After that, you know, we link them with the Union, Delta Union, Farmas Union and Yemma
Farmas Union.
We stay there five days a week and on Saturday and Sunday, we come back to Yangon and we
teach here for English course.
We will make farmers to realize their existing situations, the problems they are facing and
also the risks that they are going to face, perish on.
We study together with them that constitution, how to make use of these laws in their daily
life.
We will also do the election campaigns and also, you know, the importance of their votes
because all together, more than 70% of our citizens are farmers, they can make use of
their power.
Right now, they do not have real members of parliament who are effectively, you know,
helping their problems, so we are doing this as well, so that it could be positively contributing
to 2015 election for our whole country.
