Here is one story from Benjaminis Church.
I'm in 2nd grade 12 at Millem secondary school.
My name is Frank Chueli. I'm doing grade 9 together in primary.
We started off with my father. He used to support us but he died.
When he died, I thought I would stop school because it got financially tough because my mum couldn't manage but with the help from God he has really pushed us.
Our church supports us and I know I'm going to finish school and I'll do something in future that will make the people see that truly this is a person who is really directed by God.
When I come back from school, I help my mum with the garden and I would help her wash the plates. Sometimes I sweep.
I also help out sometimes fetching water in the garden and in my spare time I do some sewing.
I have my mum who is always supporting me and I really love her.
My name is Ruth Chueli. My husband died in 2009 and when he died, he left me with seven children. Three children were still in school.
But after the death of my husband, I started struggling because my husband was helping me.
At our church we have a group for widows and in this group for widows I'm the one who is their leader.
I want to encourage my fellow widows that when your husband dies, don't be discouraged because many times you feel discouraged, you start asking yourself what am I going to do now, how about these children, what am I going to do.
You don't need to be discouraged or done to God. God is able to help you just as He has helped me.
Through the church, one of the three people that remain in school has since graduated from school and is in college and the two of them are still in school.
At the same time, I'm very much grateful for the church because through the church they have introduced a serving group who have named it as Chinchileini.
Every Friday we meet we save money, then at times also give ourselves loans.
In our serving scheme we also have money that we call social. This money is usually used to help each other.
If for instance our friend is sick, we usually get from the same money to support that person.
During our gatherings, first and foremost when we just meet we pray to ask God for guidance and then we appoint one of us to also give a word of encouragement from the word of God.
Thereafter we go ahead with our savings, we put our money together and also we get notices to hear how others are doing.
So that we hear if others are sick in hospital, if others are sick in their homes, if others have got finers, then we are able to go and visit them.
That's what we do when we meet.
You need to do at least something that can help you with your family.
I want to thank the church because the church introduced this serving group and because of the serving group I'm able to help my family
and even the one that I mentioned was in college. I'm able to help him because of the serving group that we began.
We are so thankful to Forgotten Voices because as you can see at Mushiri Evangelico Church we have projects that are advancing God's work.
We have things like Hamami and Eboho.
These two things are helping us advance God's work.
With such projects at the local church our desire is to see that the local church is sustainable in helping the needs of orphans and widows within their communities.
However, we are also concerned with the local church's future sustainability, especially at family level.
This is why at Mushiri Evangelico Church we have also facilitated the introduction of a serving scheme.
The group is called Chinchireni, which simply means working hard together.
The women regularly meet to make savings of their money and the money does not go anywhere else.
It is to help them as caregivers within their own families.
In fact, I have often spoken with a number of women in this group and they have told me how it has been a blessing in their lives
and they are very grateful that the church has introduced this serving scheme.
My name is Pastor Benjamin Mushonga.
I am the pastor of Mushiri Evangelico Church.
At our local church we empower the people we are working with
and we help them with their physical and spiritual needs.
I am also grateful to God for the partnership we have with Forgotten Voices.
In our years of ministry, who knew that there will ever be other Christians from far places who would come to work together with us,
especially in meeting our orphans and widows needs.
Imagine a situation where you are lifting a heavy load and someone comes along
and offers to lift one side as you lift the other side.
We are very grateful to God because this is all God's plan
and we can see that His people at Forgotten Voices have come to partner with us
and walk along with us as we meet these people's needs.
This is indeed very encouraging.
We are very grateful to God for the partnership we have
and the good things that God is doing at Mushiri Evangelico Church.
This is what we have done at just one church.
There are thousands of pastors in Africa, just like Benjamin.
Through Forgotten Voices, you and I can quietly invest in each family
and church's custom plan for every child through savings groups and income generating activities.
We are helping build sustainable income so that work goes on and we remain unknown.
I invite you to quietly invest in children, families and churches at ForgottenVoices.org.
