My name is Kathy Price and right now I am leading a campaign that we have organized to focus
on the very serious situation that indigenous peoples in Colombia are facing where at least
a third of indigenous peoples are facing the risk of physical and cultural extermination.
The indigenous peoples of Colombia are facing a risk of genocide that is being fed by
the lack of concrete and real policies of the state and its governments, by armed conflict
and by the effects of the presence of natural resources in their territories.
Two years ago the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia sent leaders to Canada with a
very eloquent and heartfelt appeal to Canadians.
They asked us to support them in a campaign to make visible the very serious human rights
emergency being faced by indigenous peoples and we at Amnesty International committed
to work with them to support their very courageous struggle.
Hello, my name is Daniela, I am Colombian and I live in Toronto, Canada.
I am a very proud indigenous girl here in Canada, to inform the whole mission related
that they are looking directly at the eyes, with super simple, super humilde, but with a message
that is too strong, in which they are telling them that they are being extinguished and that they
are exterminating them. Their manifestation of concern in relation to the serious emergency that
the indigenous people of Colombia can contribute so that these people do not extinguish themselves,
so that they do not lose culture, knowledge, wisdom and entire peoples, human beings that
asparan mucha falta y podrán seguir aportando mucho a la humanidad.
