Well, I came to Macauley because not only did my mom come here, but my two older sisters.
It's an all-girls school and it's a better learning environment.
I shadowed here and I really liked it and my cousin was a sophomore when I shadowed.
I just wanted to go to a school where there were all girls because I felt more comfortable.
I've always wanted to come to Macauley since I was little and my mom went here.
A lot of my cousins came here.
I had a field trip here actually to one of the places and that was really fun because
I saw how involved everyone was.
It felt like I was at home.
When I came to shadow date, everyone was very welcoming.
It was such a positive vibe.
The second I walked in here for the eighth grade class, I immediately felt a different
atmosphere.
Also, when I was looking around at high schools, this one just really appealed to me because
it's an all-girls school.
It makes me feel comfortable in my faith and it definitely makes me feel like I can expand
my faith and use it beyond being in church and use it in my life.
It really does prepare you for college very well.
I know a lot of alumni who are in college right now and they say that they feel so prepared.
The faculty here is really great.
They are always willing to help.
I think the community at Macauley is very, very strong and coming back as a teacher,
I felt like at home again, just like I was as a student.
The faculty and staff are very welcoming to students, students love being here, teachers
love being here and it's just an all-around great community and I can't imagine teaching
or being anywhere else than here.
You really have that extra time.
You gain the confidence in yourself that you need to exceed in the world and in different
occupations and just learning how to deal with different people.
Everyone is comfortable and everyone seemed to fit in where they wanted to be.
It's easier to focus.
You don't have boys always distracting you constantly.
You can relax and not have to worry about what you look like or what you say or the
classrooms.
It's more just about school than worrying about other things.
I felt just how open everyone was and you could ask them anything like where your class
was because as an 8th grader, I think it's even more intimidating to walk into a room
and not know anything about the school.
Everything was just giving each other high-fives and it was so welcoming to the freshmen.
I didn't feel scared at all.
I just felt fit right in.
I came from a really small grammar school and everything seemed so big but then I realized
that everything wasn't as hard as it seems and it's very convenient and everyone helps
you with your loss.
I couldn't find where this one room was and my friend was like, I'll take you there.
So she was really nice.
When I first got here, I was just going to play basketball and I was going to do the
all-school show but then once I found all the other clubs, I had no idea what they were
and I didn't know I was going to be involved at all.
Everyone cares about each other and I feel like it's not like senior sophomores, juniors
and freshmen.
It's like everyone's one family.
I feel like I've been able to pursue many different interests and am a colleague.
I know that I have no limits into what I'm involved in.
I actually thought from movies and TV that high school was going to be horrible and they
picked on the freshmen but all the kids here were really nice and they actually helped
me or whatever question I had.
I wasn't the type of person, you know, the sociable person.
Macaulay, I think, brought me out of my shell.
It broke me in and it exposed me to a lot of different things that I normally wouldn't
do.
And I really think you miss out on a big part of high school when you close yourself off
to experiencing sports or a club or something else because you really should open yourself
up.
