When I created my blog, my goal was to provide other women with that extra source of inspiration
that they needed for something that should be the simplest part of your day, which is
getting dressed in the morning.
I like to stay on trend, but in my own way.
So every new piece that you see from a collection, I like to mix in with maybe vintage or something
that I've had for years.
It's all about finding that perfect mix.
Fashion definitely tells a story.
You could sort of tell by the way it's put together, the mood I'm in or what I'm feeling
and it's not necessarily based on what's in right now.
I get dressed in the morning and I put on what I think looks good on my body, what
I'm comfortable in.
It has to just be that perfect, lightweight feel and I think it's all about comfort in
regards to that.
I was photographing girls who inspired me and who I thought could inspire others throughout
the city and eventually I turned the camera on on myself and started photographing my
personal style, which I noticed really resonated with my readers because I can really show
people my personality through what I'm wearing, through video I'm doing and I love it.
New York Fashion Week is always a really exciting time, especially for bloggers because
be able to see the direction the designers are going and be able to relate to it and
prepare for that next season.
This fashion week I saw a lot of beanies and leather and fur and even some baseball caps
which I thought was really cool because that's what I was wearing the whole week.
So what are we going to see coming down the runway and I'm definitely going to wear it.
Well I did a very men's wear shirt and I did a lot of that, I did a lot of jackets and
pants.
Always loved Nickel Millers.
Always.
Yeah I actually met her a few months ago.
We went to Los Feliz for dinner and had some keelish stuff.
Always a great way to meet her design.
There you go.
Wow, what brought that one?
She just wanted to have a dinner with a few bloggers and she's really into social media.
Get you tequilaed up.
Yeah.
It's always a good idea.
You've got to tweet something nice.
It was a really fun, long day at Lincoln Center.
I'm going to go home now, take a shower and head out to the parties because what's better
than that should be parties.
The energy at New York Fashion Week is so exciting.
It's one of the most exciting times of the year in terms of the fashion industry.
My favorite part of it is actually the street style and the people you see and people watching
is such a New York City thing.
So to be at New York Fashion Week and to see these people walking up Lincoln Center and
walking through meat packing on the cobblestones and just like spotting what they're wearing
and that's kind of what blogging is all about is what those real people are wearing, not
the models on the runway.
I'm definitely so tired, it's a little overwhelming going all the way uptown and all the way back
down where I live in the East Village, but we're making it work.
I'm really excited later.
I'm going to the Philip Lim show and going to see Jennifer Fisher's presentation at
Barney's which will be awesome.
This past Fashion Week the weather was just terrible.
It was a snowstorm, it was raining, it was hailing.
It was not good for everyone that was wearing heels which is everyone at Fashion Week basically.
Getting from Lincoln Center down all of those steps down the runway of street style photographers
and then getting into a cab was just crazy and always really hectic but funny at the
same time and really fun when you're like with your friends and with people you're working
with.
I'd like to stop, thank you, it's been a really awesome time, yeah, it was a great day.
Thank you, yeah, I got obsessed with it, it's real stuff.
This is Serena, she runs the blog, Spice and Slato, she's one of my best blogger friends.
Fashion is a voice without words and it's a feeling that you're expressing on your body
basically so you walk down the street every day and what you're wearing is telling a story
to other people.
If you don't truly love it then it's kind of hard to understand why we do this and why
we love it so much but I don't need anyone else's approval.
