Alright Stacy, how did you find yourself in homelessness?
Well, I had a job, I was working for CW, I ended up having a stroke, and I rushed myself
through my process of getting better, because my goal was wanting to go back to work, and
I rushed myself going back to work, and be honest, I had a little breakdown, but anyway,
I ended up having to go live with my brother in Merlin, and my brother Merlin had his children
responsibilities with them, but he did, you know, let me come and stay with them, but
like I said before, my goal was going back to Colonial Williamsburg and working again,
and I probably beat myself, but that's when things started happening, things like that,
then I ended up at Avalon at the shelter, from there I, you know, I ended up, you know,
I was basically homeless, you know, and I ended up at the Pineapple Inn, but it was struggle
of life and becoming ill, you know, and just different things happening, and that's how
I ended up homeless, because it made me look at, you know, myself differently, nobody wants
to be homeless, you know, things happen, you know, sometimes beyond our control, whether
physically or whatever, that may put us in that predicament.
So if you had something to say that you wanted people to know and understand about homelessness,
what would you want people to know?
That it could happen to anybody, because to me, you can have today, it doesn't mean that
you're going to be promised to have it tomorrow, things in life come, illnesses, whether mentally
or physically or both, and different things can just change life, you know, and even through
all of that, I'm blessed right now with 3E restoration, but I'm even going through cancer
right now, you know, but it can happen to anybody, so it taught me never to think of
people and look at people, you know, sometimes in our fleshful way that we do, because we
don't understand it, but I've been in it and I never thought I was going to be homeless,
you know, I've never been out in the elements, thank God for that, I've had to stay at a
hotel, but now through 3E restoration, I'm blessed to be in an apartment with a roommate,
you know, so I'm blessed, and I'm happy, but nobody wakes up, want to say, I want to be
homeless today.
Right, right.
No, I'm with you.
Thank you.
