Le titre Fairytale of New York, chanté avec Kirsty MacColl, épouse du producteur Steve Lillywhite est le tube de la fin d'année 1988^[1]. L'album atteint la 3^e place des charts britanniques. Q le classe en 2006 à la 37^e place du classement des 40 meilleurs albums des années 1980^[2]. Il fait partie des 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
