Based on the examination of specimens considered in this study, Neoparaphytoseius can be redefined as follows: dorsal shield about twice as long as wide, smooth or mostly areolate, with a shallow notch near r 3, bearing the following setae: j 1, j 3 –j 6, J 2, J 5, z 2, z 4, z 5, Z 1, Z 4, Z 5, s 4, S 2, S 5; setae j 3, s 4, Z 4 and Z 5 stout and serrate, other setae variable; j 3, Z 4, Z 5 and s 4 set on tubercles, which are more pronounced for Z 4 and Z 5. Distinctly from most other phytoseiids, s 4 set anteriad of insertion of j 5 (also observed in species of other genera, as Iphiseioides, Maunaseius, Paraphytoseius, Phytoseiulus, Proprioseius, and some species of Amblyseius Berlese and Proprioseiopsis). Setae r 3 and R 1 on unsclerotised cuticle in adult females and on dorsal shield in adult males. Sternal shield with three pairs of setae. Ventrianal shield vase-shaped, with shallow lateral concavity, to subpentagonal, with three pairs of setae and a pair of pores posteromesad of JV 2. Two pairs of metapodal shields. Peritreme reaching base of j 1. Fixed cheliceral digit multidentate; movable digit with three teeth. Calyx of spermatheca cup-shaped or funnel-shaped. Tíbia and tarsus of leg IV with thickened macrosetae; genu of leg IV with or without a thickened macroseta; other legs without macrosetae. Chaetotaxy of genu and tibia: genua: I— 2, 2/ 1, 2 / 1, 2 or 2, 2 / 2, 2 / 1, 2; II– 2, 2/ 1, 2 / 0, 1; III— 1, 2/ 1, 2 / 0, 1; IV— 1, 2/ 1, 2 / 0, 1; tibiae: I— 2, 2/ 1, 2 / 1,2 or 2, 2 / 2, 2 / 1,2; II— 1, 1/ 1, 2 / 1, 1; III— 1, 1/ 1, 2 / 1, 1; IV— 1, 1/ 1, 2 / 0, 1. Spermadactyl L-shaped.
