Etymology. Named after an avid collector of Cerambycidae, Mr. James S. Cope for making this unique specimen available for examination.

Type. Holotype, female, Mexico: Oaxaca, road to Microondas Ocotepec, 6 km S Matalán, N 16 49 ’ 32 ”, W 96 21 ’ 42 ”, 6800 ft gps 14 Oct 2006, C.L. Bellamy, CLB 987 on misc. flower or foliage. Holotype deposited in JCEC per request of J.S. Cope.

Note. This species can easily be recognized by its larger size and the four red maculae on the elytra, a pair which transverse at 1 / 3 length and another at ¾ length from the base. The antennae of the female are also more robust and shorter than the other two species, reaching ½ length of elytra.
