A 7.8 cm (3.1 in) SL fish (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) is a typographic error (Benjamin Frable). North and South Pacific Ocean; Bering Sea and eastern North Pacific Ocean (Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to Chile (Pequeño 1989). Depth: near surface to 1,130 m (3,707 ft) (min.: Mecklenburg et al. 2002; max.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California). The genus Diplophos was placed in the family Diplophidae by Roberts et al. (2015).
