Urostigma populneum (Willdenow 1806: 1141) Miquel (1847: 537) forma mexicanum Miquel (1847: 537)

Lectotype (designated here):— MEXICO. Acapulco, s.d., F. W. Beechey s.n. (lectotype: K000846017!; isolectotype: K000846018!).

Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue mentions that the type was collected in Mexico by Beechey and deposited in the Kew herbarium (“herb. Hook.”), but there are two collections that fit this definition: K000846017 and K000846018. Berg & Villavicencio (2004), Berg (2007) and Ibarra-Manríquez et al. (2012) only cite that the holotype is in Kew, without mentioning the number of herbarium or barcode. Examining the two collections, it is noted that only the K000846017 specimen has syconia. This is in line with the description that reports they are generally solitary with bilobed involucre. With this, we designate the specimen K000846017 as the lectotype.

Taxonomical note:— Urostigma populneum f. mexicanum was synonymized by Berg & Villavicencio (2004), Berg (2007) and Ibarra-Manríquez et al. (2012) as Ficus pertusa.
