Distribution. Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea, PG, GO, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Australia and Southern China.

Regional records. PG and GO: Iran (present study).

Habitat. This species was collected from sandy-boulder shores and under dead corals and boulders in lower intertidal to 3 m deep.

Remarks. Anker & De Grave (2016) recorded two color patterns for this species in Singapore and mentioned it as a cryptic or pseudo-cryptic species in the Indo-West Pacific. However, the specimens of current study show uniformity in the color pattern and mostly agree with material from Singapore figured by Anker & De Grave (2016: fig. 29c).
