REMARKS: Verrall in Scudder (1882: 193) listed the spelling Lomatacantha and this was cited as an unjustified emendation by Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 164), but criteria for making this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in Scudder (1882). Lomatacantha Verrall, 1882 is thus an unavailable name, new status.

REMARKS: The earliest mention of Lonchaea Fallén, 1820 using the spelling “ Lonchea ” that we have found in this study is in Eversmann (1834: 430), as an incorrect subsequent spelling. In Rondani (1856) this is either an incorrect subsequent spelling or unjustified emendation (by virtue of similar spelling changes in two or more names from “ae” to “e” in the same work). We thus follow ICZN Code Article 33.5 in treating this spelling in Rondani (1856) as an incorrect subsequent spelling.
