Holotype information. Type locality: Nigeria, Ibadan. Deposited at the Natural History Museum (BMNH), London, U.K. (not examined).
Remarks. Chopard (1961) compared this species with Eumodicogryllus bordigalensis (= Tartarogryllus bordigalensis) and M. conspersus, and he indicated the genitalia of it is more similar to E. bordigalensis than M. conspersus, but this species is more like the species of the subgenus Promodicogryllus than the species E. bordigalensis. Thus, we transfer it here.
