Distribution: As A. paessleri May, 1899 (Verseveldt & Ofwegen 1992): off Río de la Plata (38°06’S, 55°13’W; 440–480 m) (Castro 1990); Buenos Aires (38°58’S, 55°17’W; 595–642 m), Patagonia (44°19’S, 59°52’W; 183–366 m), (47°09’S, 60°38’W; 424–428 m), Strait of Magellan (150 m) (Verseveldt 1967); Chile (May 1899); South Georgia Islands (Pérez & Zamponi 2004); Seymour Island (150 m) (Antarctic Peninsula) (Molan- der 1929). As A. antarcticum: Hear Island (Australia) (135m), off South Georgia (54°21’S, 35°58’W, 144–164 m) and Cape Armitage, Ross Island, Antarctica (Wright & Studer 1889; Verseveldt & Ofwegen 1992); Franklin Island (76°10’S, 168°30’E, 79 m) (Ross Sea) (Hickson 1902); off Mt. Erebus (Ross Sea) (328 m), Ross Sea (42–407 m) (Hickson 1907); Burdwood bank (Molander 1929; present study). This is the first record at MPA Namuncurá I, Burdwood bank.

Remarks: Colonies of A. antarcticum examined are similar to A. sollasi in growth form, but differ in having capstans sparsely tuberculate and tentacle bases without clubs.
