Passiflora serratifolia Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 955. 1753.
"Habitat Surinami." RCN: 6918.
Type not designated.
Original material: Herb. Clifford: 431, Passiflora 1 (BM); [icon] in Martyn, Hist. Pl. Rar.: 36, t. 36. 1728; [icon] in Linnaeus, Amoen. Acad. 1: 217, t. 10, f. 1. 1749.
Current name: Passiflora serratifolia L. (Passifloraceae).
Note: Killip (in Publ. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 19: 380. 1938) treated a Houstoun collection from Veracruz (BM) as the type, presumably by association with the cited account by Martyn, who described a plant raised by Miller at Chelsea from seeds sent to the latter by Houstoun. However, this material would not have been seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name.
