One year later, an upper endoscopy was performed for progressive dysphagia with weight loss, which showed tumor recurrence with associated esophageal stenosis.
It was decided to place a 7 cm non-recovered prosthesis, disappearing dysphagia and allowing intake.
Biopsies taken from the stenosis were positive for malignancy.
The patient received chemotherapy.
She died 8 months after stent placement due to tumor progression, peritoneal carcinomatosis and lung metastases without dysphagia.
