A 29-year-old woman diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus who was admitted to the hospital ward due to respiratory failure and anemization (hemoglobin, 5.3 gr/dl).
A few hours later, the patient was admitted to the ICU for a new episode of alveolar bleeding with respiratory instability and a pO2/FiO2 ratio of 140 (Ven disturbance 50% 10 bpm).
At 24h after admission, diagnostic fibrobronchoscopy was performed with bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) using a CPAP-B according to the protocol described, without complications and obtaining a lavage content culture negative.
