Tests include prolonged PT and APTT, decreased fibrinogen, increased libido, thrombocytopenia and fragmentation of red blood cells.
The treatment is that of the underlying disease, in addition to circulatory support, ventilation and hemodialysis.
If the patient develops bleeding, platelet transfusion, fresh frozen plasma or cryoprecipitated should be indicated.
In patients with thrombosis as the main manifestation, intravenous heparin therapy should be immediately initiated 20.
