Magnetic remanence (SRM-longcore)

Magnetic remanence was measured on section halves (and rarely on whole-round sections) using a 2G Enterprises 760R cryogenic magnetometer, first as natural remanent magnetization (NRM) and then after demagnetization steps were performed on the samples by alternating field (AF) demagnetizer coils mounted in-line within the instrument.

Data File format

	Exp: expedition number
	Site: site number
	Hole: hole number
	Core: core number
Type: type indicates the coring tool used to recover the core (typical types are F, H, R, X).
	Sect: section number
A/W: archive (A) or working (W) section half.
Offset (cm): position of the observation made, measured relative to the top of a section half.
Depth CSF-A (m): location of the observation expressed relative to the top of a hole.
Depth [other] (m): location of the observation expressed relative to the top of a hole. The location is presented in a scale selected by the science party or the report user.
Demag level(mT): level of alternating-field demagnetization applied by the SRM’s inline coils.
Inclination background + tray corrected (°): inclination computed with tray and background (drift) correction.
Declination background + tray corrected (°): declination computed with tray and background (drift) correction.
Intensity background + tray corrected (A/m): intensity computed with tray and background (drift) correction.
Inclination raw (°): inclination computed from magnetic moment data.
Declination raw (°): declination computed from magnetic moment data.
Intensity raw (A/m): intensity computed from magnetic moment data.
Magnetic moment x|y|z (Am2): magnetic moment raw data from SQUID axes, with sign corrected to match IODP orientation conventions.
Sample orientation: orientation of section measured (e.g., single line).
Raw data: ASCII file with raw SRM data.
Timestamp (UTC): time file was uploaded, which is typically a few minutes to hours after data were acquired.
Instrument: abbreviation for the magnetometer used to make this measurement (SRM).
Text ID: automatically generated unique database identifier for a sample, visible on printed labels.
Test No: Unique number associated with the instrument measurement steps that produced these data.
Comments: observer's notes about a measurement, the sample, or the measurement process.
