A 50-year-old woman with SLE treated with a 0.25-gram daily chloroquine diphosphate tablet, equivalent to 150 mg of chloroquine base, for more than 10 years (total dose of chloroquine: 700 g).
In the previous annual reviews, no alterations were observed until the last visit, in which she presented: better corrected visual acuity (VA) of 10/10 in the right eye (OD) and 10/10I in the left ear (OD)
Conventional perimetrium (AP) was performed and showed a significant drop in central threshold values in both eyes (AO).
Illness color test was normal.
In the eye fundus nonspecific pigmentary changes were observed at macular level.
Chloroquine was discontinued and revisions were performed, without visual field or visual changes.
