We report on a patient who was discussed in the interdisciplinary
gastrointestinal tumor board.

Primary diagnosis
Esophageal carcinoma in the middle third (approximately 28–32 cm
from the dental arch), causing luminal narrowing

Histology
Adenocarcinoma
Diagnosis histologically confirmed

Diagnostic status
Initial diagnosis approximately 3 weeks ago

Clinical condition
ECOG performance status: 1

Comorbidities
Coronary artery disease (single-vessel disease)
Arterial hypertension
Obesity
History of nicotine use
Long-segment Barrett’s esophagus (history)

Relevant past medical history
Chemical injury to the airways and esophagus during youth

Current concomitant conditions
Transient renal dysfunction due to volume depletion (prerenal)
