P-wave velocity, caliper system (PWAVE-C) 

P-wave velocity data were measured on undisturbed section halves (JRSO-defined x-axis) and/or discrete cube and cylinder samples (x, y, or z-axis) using pairs of piezoelectric transducers mounted on a caliper system. Report includes P-wave velocity in x, y, and/or z-direction, caliper separation, traveltime between transducers, and first arrival picks.

    P-wave velocity x (m/s): velocity of pressure wave through sample in the x axis (computer pick).
    P-wave velocity y (m/s): velocity of pressure wave through sample in the y axis (computer pick).
    P-wave velocity z (m/s): velocity of pressure wave through sample in the z axis (computer pick).
    P-wave velocity (unknown axis) (m/s): velocity of pressure wave through sample where the axis is unknown (computer pick).
    Caliper separation (mm): distance between the transducers on the caliper.
    Sonic traveltime (µs): manually picked traveltime of the sonic wave from transducer to transducer through the sample.
    P-wave velocity x [manual] (m/s): velocity of P-wave through sample in the x axis, calculated using the manually picked traveltime.
    P-wave velocity y [manual] (m/s): velocity of P-wave through sample in the y axis, calculated using the manually picked traveltime.
    P-wave velocity z [manual] (m/s): velocity of P-wave through sample in the z axis, calculated using the manually picked traveltime.
    P-wave velocity (unknown axis) [manual] (m/s): velocity of pressure wave through sample when the axis is unclear, calculated using the manually picked traveltime.
    Sonic traveltime [manual] (µs): manually picked traveltime of the sonic wave from transducer to transducer through the sample.
    Transducer signal file: file containing the raw P-wave signal.
    Configuration filename: P-wave caliper instrument configuration file.
    Instrument: abbreviation or mnemonic for the P-wave sensing device used to make this observation.
    Instrument group: abbreviation or mnemonic for the data collection device used to acquire this observation.
