Improving Post-Harvest Handling in Fruits and Vegetables of Côte d'Ivoire: A Systematic Review of Literature from 2003 to 2003

Abstract
Fruits and vegetables in Côte d'Ivoire are frequently subjected to post-harvest losses due to inadequate handling practices. A comprehensive search was conducted in databases including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Studies published between and were included based on predefined inclusion criteria targeting post-harvest handling practices. The review identified a significant proportion (75%) of studies highlighting the importance of proper storage temperature management in reducing losses compared to other interventions like improved packaging or transportation methods. Effective strategies for improving post-harvest handling include stringent control over temperature and humidity conditions, which can significantly reduce fruit and vegetable losses by an average of 10%. Implementation of recommended storage facilities such as refrigerated chambers in rural areas is advised to mitigate the identified losses effectively.
