Remarks

The type series of C. gotschii was collected in 1844 along the Caspian Sea. In all the museums and private collections, we could find only one specimen collected after 1844. The description of this species conforms to the original by Chaudoir (1846, 1876). To this we have added photos of the median lobe. In addition to the differences between C. gotschii and C. steveni as observed by Chaudoir, we can add: C. steveni antennomere 3 is nearly 1.5 times as long as antennomere 4; C. gotschii antennomere 3 is slightly longer than antennomere 4 (Figs 7, 8c–d).

The presence of this species in Azerbaijan (Lenkoran, recorded already by Chaudoir (1876)) was overlooked by Kirschenhofer (2017). We cannot confirm the record of C. gotschii in Armenia (Kirschenhofer 2017).
