DESCRIPTION
--------------------
"Four Early Chan Texts from Dunhuang – A TEI-based Edition" was a markup project funded and organized by the Chung-hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies. Between 2014 and 2017 all 48 available Dunhuang manuscript witnesses of four early Chan texts have been transcribed in XML/TEI with the aim of exploring best practices for high-end digital editions of Chinese Dunhuang material. This archive contains the XML files, some XSLT stylesheets to produce HTML views, the variant character image dataset, and schema files.
A print edition based on the material has been published as:
Marcus Bingenheimer 馬德偉, Chang Po-Yung 張伯雍 (eds.). 2018. Four Early Chan Texts from Dunhuang – A TEI-based Edition 早期禪宗文獻四部 —— 以TEI標記重訂敦煌寫卷：楞伽師資記，傳法寶紀，修心要論，觀心論. Taipei: Shin Wen Feng 新文豐. (Vol. 1: Facsimiles and Diplomatic Transcription 摹寫版, Vol. 2: Parallel, Punctuated and Annotated Edition 對照與點注版, Vol. 3: Calligraphy Practice 抄經版.)
For more information see the "Introduction" that is included in this archive.
This archive also includes the marked-up text of the Nanzong ding shifei lun 南宗定是非論, which is not part of the print edition.
This archive does not include the image files of the Mss. Those can be accessed at the International Dunhuang Project (idp.bl.uk).
