13-year-old girl, diagnosed in May 2003 with intermediate uveitis and treated with topical, peribulbar and oral glucocorticoids, with persistent cystic macular oedema (CMO) in both eyes and visual acuity (VA) of 0.2 in the right eye (RA) and 0.4 in the left eye (LO). In February 2004, 4 mg of intravitreal triamcinolone (Trigon Depot®, Bristol-Myers Squibb) was injected into the RA. One month later, the CME had resolved with VA of 0.7, so treatment was repeated in the LA with VA of 0.7. One year later, intraocular pressure (IOP) of 26 mmHg OD and 23 mmHg OI were detected and controlled with topical timolol 0.5% (Timoftol® 0.5%, MSD). By July 2005, she had developed posterior subcapsular cataracts, with VA of 0.2 OD and 0.5 OI. She is currently awaiting phacoextraction surgery.
