Is there a
clinically clear focus
for the infection?
Focal treatment: fastest possible (!)
removal of infected implanted foreign materials such as vascular catheters including long-term catheters, cardiac implanted electronic devices, joint prostheses
Antibiotic therapy
: intravenous staphylococcal-effective therapy always required
Follow-up and evaluation of the success of the therapy
