  • Biswas (1984) described this species on the basis of three female specimens. Detailed examination of the holotype (Fig. 5A, C-D) and the paratypes (5B, E) suggests that this species belongs to Oedignatha (Liocranidae): occurrence of a series of ventral spines on tibiae and metatarsi of legs I and II, chelicerae with a dorsal bulge, and clypeus with a conical hump in front of AMEs. Based on these observations, we consider the transfer of C. bengalensis to Oedignatha fully justified. Further examination of the female genitalia of this species reveals that it has all the diagnostic characters of O. scrobiculata: epigyne without membranous area (window), absence of distinct copulatory ducts and globular spermathecae (cf. Fig. 5C-E, Deeleman-Reinhold 2001: figs 355-356 and Saaristo 2002: fig. 18). The species C. bengalensis should thus be regarded as a junior synonym of O. scrobiculata.
